Katie. Dear dear Katie. We are not friends, nor do I know anyone close to you, but we are sisters. Not only that, we are sisters who share the same love for Christ and for children. I LOVE IT!! How perfect that you have just the right number of babes! I always look forward to seeing "the Journey" in my reader. Thanks for all that you do. You are changing lives that you don't even know.
Merry Christmas! I hope you personally read this message. I sit with my many children and read from your blog on a regular basis as part of our devotional time. We all love your stories about your sweet family. We are interested in coming out for a mission trip-- and to meet you and your girls. Is that even possible? We were going to go to Ukraine where we have adopted many of our children, over Christmas, but it didn't work out. God Bless!
Hello, You don't know me, but a friend of mine told me to read your blog and I really enjoyed it. :) I admire your faith and confidence in God; it is unparalleled as far as I'm concerned. I hope to one day grow in His grace the way you have. I wanted to ask you about your service. My husband and I are interested in helping children the way you are, but not sure where to start. We would like to adopt a child, but in America it is extremely expensive. I have no idea how we would manage the cost of straight out adopting this way. As sad as it is that money is our main factor in not adopting a child right now, I would rather put that money towards helping a child, not in the process of adopting. I just want to help at least one child in need and I don't care the sex of the child, where they're from or anything like that, which seems to be of concern to adoption agencies here. We are beginning to explore many options and was wondering if you could direct me to a place in Africa that does adoption, or a person I could connect with to learn more about it to see if this is possibly the way to go. I understand you are a "little bit" busy, so I won't expect a response right away if at all. But if you can, I would appreciate it. :) Thank you for doing all that you do. You really inspire me.
Hello Katie! I came across your blog today for the first time and have been in tears reading posts for the last 2 hours. I am a single mom with 2 kids and it's hard enough taking care of them. I have NO idea how you do it with 14!! I guess this way the Lord gets the credit right? I have had a heart for missions, I have a calling on my life...and I SO admire you for taking up your cross and never looking back. After high school, I decided that I would get my degree in teaching so that I could be more "valuable" overseas. Then I married a man (who promised he also had a calling for missions) who cheated on me and abused me (but I only found out about the cheating after we had had 2 beautiful children.) I felt like for 11 years I was kept from my calling. I finally was released from that marriage and now have to have his written NOTARIZED permission to even take the kids out of the country on a vacation. He will not allow it. I wish I could help you in some way to be there to pray with you and love those precious ones. But my prayers from the US will have to do for now. I am praying for a miracle...and only the Lord, the creator of the universe, will be my deliverer. He is certainly big enough! And I pray that you had the most beautiful Christmas with your 14 sweet girls. I have never met any of you and yet I love you all just the same. Be strong! Know that my little family is praying and sending all of our love!
Katie, God Bless You! You are an inspirations to my family. I am a youth minister in NC but grew up in Nashville. My family and I will be in Mbarara, Uganda in a few weeks. We are very excited to see what God is doing their and how we may play a part. I know of a young man in that goes to David Lipscomb High school in Nashville who has developed a heart for the the Orphans in Northern Uganda. He is starting a fundraiser at his church to support children there. I know he hopes to travel there in the next few years. I will point him to your blog! - Will
Katie, I have a couple of questions. How much does it cost to a month to support one of the kids?? Also, will it ever be a possibility to bring all the kids to the US? This is probably a really odd question and I am not really sure how to word it but here goes: Would it ever be possible for you to adopt more children, bring them over to the US and then find families for them here? Please don't be offended by this question. I am referring to different children, not your own. I just know how difficult and expensive it is for someone here to adopt from Urganda so I wasn't sure if you could be some type of intermediary (is that the right word?)
I have been following your blog for some time now. You are truely an inspiration to many of us who do not have your faith or courage to do what God is calling us to do, Thank you! Your family is beautiful! My prayers are with you in this new year that your work will continue to bless many.
I loved this post and enjoy reading your blog! Your faith is an inspiration! Happy New Year and may 2010 bring you much favor, provision, joy, peace, rest and wisdom! Blessings, Laura
Don't know you but I check your blog daily. I pray for you and your family. I love to see your passion for Christ and for your daughters. I've mentioned your blog and story to our Bible Study class my husband and I are leading and had such a surprising response afterward- they were moved and touched by you. You're doing great things and honoring Jesus at the same time. You've got a great looking family, and it's fun to look at each child seperately and see their personalities in it. God bless you, and I will keep praying for you.
Katie I just found your blog and spent the last 2 days reading from 2007 to present. To say you are amazing is a huge understatement. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for following God's will for your life. You are filled with Wisdom beyond anything I have ever experienced. I am forever changed by the way you live our your faith.
You don't know me but I feel like I know you to some extent after reading your entire blog....wow! I don't even know how I can respond. Please know you are blessing those you don't even know and encouraging my person walk of faith with the Lord. May the Lord supply you with all your needs, your children's needs and those that come to your door. Bless you for your obedience to our Heavenly Father.
I love reading your blog- your family portrait brought tears to my eyes! we just arrived home on dec 30 with our son from Rwanda. God's hand is so powerful in Africa. It was like a spiritual Spa there. Amazing. God bless you and your family! Jen and bill emilia and elijah
So happy to have come across your blog today! (I followed a link at Conversion Diary, at which she posted how blessed she was by one of your posts.) What you are doing is absolutely extraordinary. Thank you!
I was introduced to your blog a couple of days ago and have not been able to get you and your sweet girls off my mind. Will be following your journey and praying along the way!
wow. God is a truly beautiful God. Those girls are a reflection of that. Thank you for giving them a home and a mother! Your blog continues to bless my life and point me to Christ
I stumbled upon your blog through a family member who'd been reading. I've spent the past two days at work (shhh!) reading every post since the beginning. I am blessed and so very humbled by your amazing work in Uganda. What a miracle you are to these children. Thank you for setting such an amazing example and showing how incredibly blessed one can be when they LISTEN to God. You are such an incredible woman & I pray that God continues to bless you, your precious children, and the many many children and families that you bless and take care of daily.
This is, without a doubt, the most powerful blogspot I have ever seen. I spend too much time complaining about politics, reading the latest gossip, and living such a complacent live.
Katie, you have absolutely humbled me, kicked me in the rear end, and opened up my eyes to some things I never imagined before! Thank you for that.
Holy smokes this is the best encouragement on walking in obedience EVER! I am a 34 yr old Mom to 3 sons 1 adopted daughter and wife to my man of 14 years...I love your story (His story) because it helps me speak to young women who are waiting around for that guy to show up and sweep them into happiness. You have been swept up and are bringing such honor to God in how you selflessly love and serve Him. Thanks for teaching me more about walking in faith and not in fear!
Listening to your testimoney right now as you are speaking to Nancy Turner on WMBI...May God continue using you to be the salt and light to all the little girls..... God Bless you. Sandra Chicago, IL

Sincerely,
Erin Garcia

ReplyDeleteHello Katie!
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog today for the first time and have been in tears reading posts for the last 2 hours.
Hugs,
Heidi
Katie,
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and lover your family.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Katie, to you and yours!!! And

ReplyDeleteKatie:
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog through a family member who'd been reading.
Love,
Jenny
Where are you? Seriously, Dec 23???? Wanting to hear all about Christmas and New Year's in Uganda. Please post. You're missed!!
ReplyDeleteThis is, without a doubt, the most powerful blogspot I have ever seen. I spend too much time complaining about politics, reading the latest gossip, and living such a complacent live.
ReplyDeleteKatie, you have absolutely humbled me, kicked me in the rear end, and opened up my eyes to some things I never imagined before! Thank you for that.
May God continue to bless you.
Really really lovely!
ReplyDeleteGos bless YOU!
oh melt my heart!
ReplyDeleteur girls are stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteListening to your testimoney right now as you are speaking to Nancy Turner on WMBI...May God continue using you to be the salt and light to all the little girls..... God Bless you.
