Hello again Katie and those who will read this. Blessings to you in the Lord as you seek Him.
I shared this with friends recently, as my kids and I tackle life together in the frozen land of Alaska:
"Some of my circumstances are quite challenging, yet the last few days I have eaten delicious world-class salmon that sells for up to $20 per pound, entirely organic lean moose, Alaskan grown potatoes (which have the best flavor), whole grain bread, and yummy whole grain pancakes, plus home-grown delicious rhubarb topping w fruit added, made by my daughter, Hannah, enjoyed the heat of a wood stove, been given and gave many hugs with my kids and a few others, conducted business freely, fellowshipped w sincere believers, got to hold a delightful little girl on my lap while I wrote a dedication to my dad, received much encouragement from beloved friends on FB, had good warm clothes, pure water, found a good bar and chain for my saw so we can keep working, got to share my faith w a thief who stole from me and another who may have, having no malice or grudge toward them, knowing that they are ignorant of where to find real purpose and joy, got to see an online pic of a great-niece that I hope to hold for the first time this winter and toss her up in the air sky-high like I did her mom when she was tiny, got to teach the Word of Life to my kids and share my faith and testimony with you, my friends and fellow believers. How can I not be thankful? Circumstances are temporary, but my Father has assured me that He can make me STAND, and He will! The spiritual fruit and work He does through me will endure forever, where the Faithful will always warmed by the Light and Love of our Father God! I praise Him for the storms that simply serve His purposes, and for His undeserved amazing mercy and love by which He can use even a broken and flawed seeker like me."
Thank you! And right back at you and your girls. Count our blessings, name them one by one, and see what GOD has done! To HIM be the thanks and the praise and the glory forever!
Hello Katie! Thank you so much for sharing your video with us! What a joy it is to hear the voices of those beautiful children of God. I recently read your book and ordered a necklace. It arrived a few days ago. It's so beautiful; I can't wait to wear it because it will remind me to pray for your ministry. I am 31 and single, and I love to see what God does through other single women who are simply willing to follow God's promptings. My mom is an MK from Nigeria, and Africa has always had a stronghold on me. I am so excited to hear/read/watch what God is doing in and through you in His ministry there! Another small connection we have is that my family lives in Murfreesboro, TN.
If you would be so kind, would you please pass along a message to the women who make the jewelry? I wish so very much I could thank them in person, but perhaps I can communicate my gratitude through you.
Ladies, I can't tell you how pleased I am with the necklace one of you made for me. It is so beautiful, and I can't wait to wear it! I wanted you to know that I make jewelry too! However, this necklace is far more beautiful than anything I make, and you should be very proud of yourselves. Please know that I am praying for you. I am so glad that God has given you an opportunity to make a living for your family. I wish you the very best.
Hi, Katie! Happy thanksgiving to all of you! Yesterday I found your book at my aunt's house. I didn't know your story, so I started reading it. Oh Katie, I feel blessed with your story! It's amazing how you show the love of God! May our God bless you!
I am so in awe of what God is doing through you and your ministry. As soon as I started reading your book I couldn't put it down. I finished it in three days because the words were just so full of Jesus. I couldn't get enough. God leaked through every page.
I just wanted to personally reach out to you and say thank you for your obedience and faithfulness to the Lord. I am 22 years old and your book was a great inspiration to me. As I read your book I saw a life that looked like how Jesus lived and has encouraged my heart to press deeper into God's love and discover His will for my life.
I would love to come to Uganda sometime next year to serve with you for a week or two. I'm going to start saving up and pray on it some more but I would really love to see what you wrote about. Please let me know if that is a possibility.
I pray that Amazima continues to grow and receives more funding and all the provision that you need. I pray that more children get sponsored and adopted, that you all remain safe and healthy and covered in God's grace. Continue to be a city of light on a hill! In Jesus name, Amen.
I have spent the last two days reading every one of your blog posts and crying. You and your community have renewed my faith in mankind at a time when it was so needed. I have spent too much time lately feeling sorry for myself for what we can't buy this holiday season and today I find myself looking for ways we can give more to those who truly want for the most basic things. Thank you for the reminder to always be thankful for my own girls and to always give so that others may have the chance to simply be thankful for their children.
Your ministry depicts what Jesus really wants from believers. You have inspired me.I bless God for your life Katie. The Lord is really doing wonderful things through this ministry. May God's grace be multiplied upon your life to strengthen and shield you in Jesus' name. Amen.
Before I tell you about the impact your book has had, I want to tell you why I believe God has "set me apart " in a similar way as yourself. I was born in Austin, TX and grew up in the church. I used to be a highschool football captain. In college, I volunteered in domestic abuse shelters and graduated and went on to medical school where I ran for class president -all with the thought of helping those that were uninsured. I have loved taking care of children since highschool and continue to do so at church today.
Strangely enough, God did not let me serve as a doctor and I am not on the career path I was before. I always wondered why God would allow that to happen to me.
Having just turned 27, I wondered what He wanted to do with my life. I knew "ton" of spiritual truths in the bible. But, I felt empty at the thought of having nice cars, a big house, and 401k, personally. I also, like you, had just told a sister in Christ that I loved her. I felt I was at least called to say that so I could tell our Lord I tried. But something still felt unfinished.
At first I was looking for a book to be interested in. Either mystery or thriller. I thought I was depressed having no interest in any of my comforts before. Then I found your book by sheer accident. It was a mystery and a thriller! I was so joyful upon reading just the first 4 pages that I could not read anymore due to the fact that I would have grabbed whatever money I could and fly to Africa. After some prayer and some weeks went by, I must confess I do not know where God will send me but my desire is to prepare still.
Because of your testimony of Christ working in your life, I have decided to apply to mcdonalds to work at night and help your school out while I wait to graduate in a year as an acupunturist. If mcdonalds does not work out, I still have a part-time job I can help support your school with. I also want to get my church involved too. After some time, I would like to save what I can and serve where God leads me. Like you, I did not have any experience with oversea contacts but I am sure God will take care of that. Actually,if you end up reading this, you are my first contact!
I can speak Chinese a little so perhaps God will send me to rural China. But I am at the moment okay with wherever He leads me. My greatest fear now is also the thought of being comfortable and to miss what Jesus actually tells me to do with my life that is brief like a gust of wind. I want to make it count. Thank you for your testimony and your love of Christ.

Hi Katie, I am extremely grateful for the service you provide. It is a blessing and reminder to us all. Thank you for the time and effort that you put in to helping those in need. I so wish that I could be in your shoes and experience the LOVE that you feel for these sweet people.I know that what you are doing is of God. He is proud of you for all your hard work in building his kingdom. He loves you so much and we all love you too! I love reading your blog, thanks posting :) -Amber Ogden, UT
Katie It was no accident, but today I learned about you, your family, and your ministry in Africa. What a blessing! We are blessed beyond measure back in the states and honestly unless you have visited other countries before its hard to comprehend the pain and suffering that most of the World lives in. I have watched all your videos and starting today will pray for yall daily. I have also ordered your book and plan on buying some jewelry. If possible, my wife and I are going to try and sponsor a child. Our God is so great! You are an inspiration and magnificent person. May God give you strength and encouragement in all you do.
I am a speaker for Food For The Poor and we serve the Caribbean and Latin America. When I read your book, I was back in Haiti. May God bless you and your girls and family. Remember you are never alone. The Angels are watching over you. Deacon Ken Mitchell, Louisville,Ky.
Hi Katie! My name is Jenni. I am a high school student going towards doing ministry out of the country for the summer after I graduate. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your journey. Your faith in God and your willingness to be in uncomfortable situations has encouraged me to be brave and trust in God with my plans for ministry. I am praying for your sweet family. I love your heart for adoption. Love your sister in Christ, Jenni
May God Bless you and your efforts ! God placed Uganda on my heart through a young lady I met on a plane. I was on my way to the Ukraine for a mission trip and she was on her way to Uganda. She was meeting a friend and they were going together to work in the orphanages there. We will pray for your needs daily. In Christ, Russell
Hey Katie I heard about your story at a convention on missions and what a heart after God and an awesome kingdom mind you have. I am a 27 year old youth worker and just recently have taken hold of the calling God has put on my heart for missions and am involved with a group in Ghana. After seeing your testimony I just thought wow loves God with her whole heart and so beautiful inside and out. Gives hope to a man like myself to know that a girl like you is not a myth. But I just want to tell you what a rare and awesome person God has made you to be. I will be praying that more people come to know Christ through you and the kingdom will grow through the holy spirit working through you. God bless you. Peace and love. (Shane)
I just sent an email to thetruth@amazima.com about our upcoming trip to Uganda in January and our desire to visit you in Jinja. I'm sure you must get many requests, but please consider ours. Blessings to you and yours and all of the women in children in Jinja this Christmas Season. Irene Powell
I just started reading your book last night and I am already completely blown away. The strength you had to leave all the comforts you enjoyed in the U.S. and open your heart completely to God's call is absolutely inspiring. Please know that my prayers are with you as you continue to do give all of yourself so that others can also experience the love of God.
Katie, thank you so much for telling your story and encouraging me to become a doer and not just a sayer! I have begun my own path to making a difference in my small corner of the world. I pray for your family daily and would appreciate the same. I know you have to be super busy bit would love it if you could check out my blog and maybe offer some advice, ideas and encouragement. Thanks again! Lolasdifference.blogspot.com

Happy Thanksgiving Katie!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie!
ReplyDeleteLove your sister in Christ,
Jenni
May God Bless you and your efforts !
ReplyDeleteGod placed Uganda on my heart through a young lady I met on a plane. I was on my way to the Ukraine for a mission trip and she was on her way to Uganda. She was meeting a friend and they were going together to work in the orphanages there. We will pray for your needs daily.
In Christ,
Russell
(Shane)
ReplyDeleteI just sent an email to thetruth@amazima.com about our upcoming trip to Uganda in January and our desire to visit you in Jinja. I'm sure you must get many requests, but please consider ours. Blessings to you and yours and all of the women in children in Jinja this Christmas Season. Irene Powell
ReplyDeleteKatie~
ReplyDeleteI just started reading your book last night and I am already completely blown away. The strength you had to leave all the comforts you enjoyed in the U.S. and open your heart completely to God's call is absolutely inspiring. Please know that my prayers are with you as you continue to do give all of yourself so that others can also experience the love of God.
Many Blessings.
Stephen
